The Governor signed into law S.1780-C, which fully legalizes the use of electronic notarization. Under the bill, licensed notaries are authorized to perform notarial acts through a complete, electronic format, also referred to as Remote Online Notarization (RON). Prior to being able to use online notarizations, a notary is required to register with the Department of State. While this system is being established by the Department, notaries can use the same procedures as during the pandemic when conducting remote notarizations.
